THIS weekend, thousands of people are expected to gather at demonstrations across Scotland to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.

Activists have gathered every weekend since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, which began on October 7.

The Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) is organising protests in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as almost 28,000 people are believed to have been killed by Israel's military offensive in Gaza.

The protests come after it was revealed the SNP are considering using an opposition debate later this month to reiterate demands for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The protests have been announced for Saturday are:

  • Edinburgh, Foot of The Mound, 1pm
  • Glasgow, George Square, 1pm

Organisers behind the Edinburgh demonstration have said they wish to "recognise and honour those most vulnerable in society who are severely impacted by this genocidal violence".
