HUMZA Yousaf has reshuffled his Scottish Government ministers after Michael Matheson's resignation – but who has gone where?

  • Neil Gray, MSP for Airdrie and Shotts, takes over from Matheson as Health Secretary, moving from the Wellbeing Economy, Fair Work and Energy brief.
  • Mairi McAllan, MSP for Clydesdale, is understood to be taking on Gray's portfolio responsibilities, merging with parts of her previous role as Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Net Zero and Just Transition. McAllan's title is now Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing Economy, Net Zero and Energy.

  • Transport becomes a stand-alone Cabinet Secretary brief under Fiona Hyslop, MSP for Linlithgow, who has held the brief as a junior ministerial role since June 2023.

The National:

  • Christina McKelvie replaces Elena Whitham, who stood down as drugs and alcohol minister earlier this week citing post-traumatic stress.
  • Kaukab Stewart, MSP for Glasgow Kelvin, takes over as minister for Culture, Europe and International development. Stewart (below) becomes the first woman of colour to hold a ministerial position in the Scottish Government.

  • Jim Fairlie is understood to be taking on the role of Minister for Agriculture and Connectivity, supporting both McAllan and Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon.
  • Gillian Martin has been brought in as a Minister for Energy, Just Transition and Fair Work.

The Scottish Cabinet now includes seven women.
