AN Edinburgh hotel has received a five-star rating in a prestigious global travel guide.

For the fourth year running The Balmoral was awarded five-stars in the Forbes Travel Guide, which independently determines which luxury hotels and spas around the world can truly be considered five-star.

The Victorian hotel in the heart of Edinburgh first received a five-star rating in the guide back in 2021.

It continues to be the only hotel in the capital which maintains a five-star rating with Forbes.

General manager Andrew McPherson, who was appointed to the post last year, said he was proud the hotel had once again been recognised.

“It is a wonderful honour to be able to share that we have retained our five-star Forbes rating for the fourth year running,” he said.

“Forbes truly requires the very best standards for guests and we are extremely proud to be recognised with one of the most renowned hospitality awards in the world.

“Edinburgh’s most iconic hotel is highly regarded not only for its incredible architecture, history, restaurants and bars but also for the world-class Scottish hospitality delivered every day.

“The Balmoral team works hard to provide our guests with memorable experiences, and we look forward to continuing to deliver world-class service for our guests.”

The Forbes Travel Guide has independently inspected luxury hotels since 1958 and is known as the gold-standard in rating the world’s finest properties.

Anonymous inspectors check into a hotel for at least two nights, then test up to 900 objective standards with an emphasis on exceptional service.

The Balmoral is comprised of 167 rooms and 20 suites, with a comprehensive spa, fitness centre and numerous restaurants and bars.

It has been owned by Rocco Forte Hotels since 1997.
