UPDATE: The A9 has now been reopened in both directions.

TRAFFIC Scotland has confirmed that the A9 remains closed in both directions due to a "serious collision" on Sunday morning.

Police Scotland confirmed they received reports of a three-vehicle crash around 11am on Sunday morning and that emergency services attended.

A spokesperson said that a 40-year-old man and a 85-year-old woman were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment. 

The latest update from Traffic Scotland, posted to Twitter/X at 4.50pm, said: "The #A9 at the House of Bruar remains CLOSED following a serious collision earlier today."

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area where possible and alternative routes have been put in place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.05am on Sunday, December 31 2023, we received a report of a three-vehicle road crash on the A9 near to Blair Atholl.

"Emergency services attended and a 40-year-old man and a 85-year-old woman were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

"The road remains closed in both directions while emergency services are in attendance. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
