A THUG who punched and fractured a man's eye socket amid a dispute over skipping a toilet queue has been ordered to pay him £800 in compensation.

Brandon Manners, 25, pounced on Archibald Sherlock at Glasgow city centre's The Social on February 4 2023.

Manners hit Mr Sherlock once on the head from behind after both men left the bathroom area of the bar.

The pair had earlier argued about jumping ahead in the line for the bathroom.

Manners pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Sherlock to his severe injury and impairment.

Sheriff Shona Gilroy ordered Manners to do 90 hours of unpaid work on top of the compensation at Thursday's sentencing.

The court earlier heard that Mr Sherlock was at the bar with his son who waited outside for him.

Manners, of Twechar, East Dunbartonshire, and another man entered the toilet meantime.

Prosecutor Jeremy O'Neill said: "While in the toilet, Mr Sherlock entered in a disagreement with the men over skipping the queue.

"Mr Sherlock left the toilet and was followed by Manners.

"Mr Sherlock made his way through the dancefloor when he was punched from behind to the head which caused him to fall to the ground."

Manners was ushered away from the bar while Mr Sherlock was taken into the kitchen area for first aid.

The victim - who had pain on the side of his face and a bloody nose - did not recall what had happened at the time.

Manners handed himself into police two months after the incident.

Mr O'Neill said: "Doctors assessed Mr Sherlock to have three fractures to the right eye socket."

It was reported that Mr Sherlock's eye has moved position which will take some time to heel.

Kevin Corr, defending, told the court: "It was always my client's position that although he cant recall what happened, as he was intoxicated, he was in the wrong."
