THE popular pro-independence Twitter/X account MSM Monitor has told followers it has "reached the limit" of what could be achieved before suddenly deactivating.

The account – which had 43,000 followers – tweeted from the handle @msm_monitor and was known for highlighting perceived bias in the media, with a focus on the BBC.

Fellow Twitter users noticed on Thursday that the account’s tweets had disappeared, and its profile page showed the message: “This account doesn’t exist”.

The account has previously vanished from Twitter/X. Earlier this year, the account posted a goodbye message and then clarified it would remain “live but dormant” until the SNP leadership race is over.

Other users were quick to notice the disappearance of the account. “Looks like the MSM Monitor has been censored. Must have been irritating the UK State. Unionists own Twitter. Just like they own all other media”, one user wrote.

The National:

A post issued on Thursday evening said: “We think this Twitter account has run its course. There’s a limit to what can be achieved on this platform, and we think we’ve reached that limit.

“We’ll be deactivating the account shortly. This message is just confirmation that haven’t been hacked or threatened.”

Users react as MSM Monitor account disappears

One wrote: “Sadly, MSM Monitor has called it a day. I can't think of anyone I'll miss more.”

Another added: “Looks like this excellent account has gone! This is very bad news for those who like a bit of truth amongst the daily shit being pumped out by the MSM and their shadowy controllers.

"Please come back - we need you MSM Monitor.”

Followers have been wondering if the disappearance is attached to the SNP’s overdue rebuttal unit.

The SNP's depute leader told delegates at SNP conference in Aberdeen on October 16 that the party's rebuttal unit, aimed at correcting falsehoods about independence in the media, would launch in the next week.

Three weeks later and there has been no output from the new party project.
