APPARENTLY someone at the BBC didn’t feel enough debate was being sparked at the Tory party conference this week.
The BBC news website liveblog felt the need to liven things up and left some Twitter/X users confused when somebody’s breakfast order appeared as part of the day’s events.
The screenshot showed a list of bullet points listing what to expect from the day ahead and one of the lines simply said: “Fried egg, two slices of pineapple, and a hash brown.”
Social media user Scott Innes commented: “When you’re writing the BBC News liveblog and someone interrupts to take your breakfast order.”
The presence of pineapple on the order sparked quite the response with one user labelling it a “bold move”.
Specsavers also weighed in, commenting: “Eyes transfixed by ‘two slices of pineapple’.”
Another joked that if that was the makeup of the new Cabinet then it all sounded “more promising” than what we’re currently dealing with.
“Only one hash brown but two pineapples. Madness”, said another user.
Apparently, there was a completely logical explanation however with BBC political editor Chris Mason giving out some details in the live blog.

He said: “An entirely trivial but colourful little moment just now here. On a morning of a big speech from the Prime Minister, and a briefing for senior ministers beforehand, a cabinet minister hurtles into the breakfast room of the Midland Hotel.
“On her plate? An eclectic selection: A fried egg, two slices of pineapples and a hash brown. Thirty seconds later they’re all gone – and so was the minister.
“And to think, some people raise an eyebrow about pineapple on a pizza.”
Sure Chris, we believe you.
