The BBC has sparked much speculation after announcing a special hour-long edition of Panorama will be airing next Monday (October 2).
At the time of writing, the BBC has not yet revealed the details of the programme or investigation.
Instead, the announcement for the upcoming show, which is 59 minutes long, simply reads: "Special. Investigative documentary."
Recently a Channel 4 Dispatches episode drew attention when an unexpected edition of the show was suddenly scheduled which concerned allegations made against comedian Russell Brand of sexual assault and rape.
Due to the similar secretive nature of the investigations programme being announced with barely any detail, it has prompted much speculation online of what it will be about.
What could the Panorama episode be about?
Many people discussing the announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter) seemed to think allegations could once again be made against a celebrity.
Several people simply tweeted "Here we go again".
Meanwhile, another person said: "Doubt it will be a celeb thing. More likely to be exposing some political or business scandal."
One person joked about the announcement, saying: "New black mirror concept where the nation eagerly awaits for their Saturday night mystery celebrity expose."
Another put: "If this mystery Panorama next week turns out to be about Avanti railways or something there'll be riots."
Panorama is a current affairs documentary programme that has aired on the BBC since 1963, bringing to light many serious issues of the day.
It has been presented by many well-known BBC presenters, including Richard Dimbleby, Robin Day, David Dimbleby and Jeremy Vine.
In more recent times it has been broadcast without a regular presenter.
