A GLASGOW restaurant has been named the best in Scotland at a prestigious event.

Cail Bruich took home the prize for Scottish Restaurant of the Year at this year's AA Hospitality Awards.

Held in London, the event was hosted by Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman and recognises some of the top culinary talents across the UK.

Head chef Lorna McNee and Chef de Partie Lewis shared photos from the event with their award and spoke of their delight to win the accolade.

They wrote: "What a lovely way to kick off our week!

"Head Chef Lorna and senior Chef de Partie Lewis headed down to London to the @AAHospitality awards last night, where they picked up the Scottish Restaurant of the Year Award!

"Well done to the team for making this happen; we are delighted with this award.

"Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks for a great night AA Hospitality!"

Meaning "eat well" in Gaelic, Cail Bruich is famed for its five-to-seven-course tasting menus using the best local Scottish or British produce.

After the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2021, Lorna became the first and only female solo chef in Glasgow to have the honour.

She previously told the Glasgow Times: “Winning a Michelin star has been a dream of mine since I became a chef. The feeling of achieving it is better than I could have ever imagined.

"The best feeling for me though, is seeing the happiness on my team members’ faces knowing that all our hard work and sacrifice has been worthwhile.

"It is amazing to share it with them. I’m so proud, it is a dream come true.”

The Great Western Road eatery - which also boasts three AA Rosettes -  was first opened in 2008 by brothers Chris and Paul Charalambous.
