The Scottish SPCA has hit out after two cats were abandoned on a busy motorway.
The cats, who are both female but not microchipped, were discovered on Sunday, August 27, beside a slip road coming from Clydeside onto the M74.
The cats were taken to one of SSPCA's animal rescue and rehoming centres.
Now, the charity is appealing for information following the incident.
An assistant manager at the centre said: "These cats were found in their blue and white cat carrier beside a slip road coming from Clydeside on the busy M74.
"A member of the public managed to pick up the carrier and bring the cats to one of our centres.
"Both cats are females but are unfortunately not microchipped.
"We appreciate that whoever left the cats may have intended for them to be found but this is not the correct way to give up a pet if you can no longer care for them.
"If anyone recognises these cats, or has any information about their circumstances, they should call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
