A POLICE hunt is on after a teenager and a young woman were sexually assaulted in what are being treated as linked incidents.

A 14-year-old girl and a 22-year-old woman both reported sexual assault and inappropriate behaviour from an unidentified man in Paisley on Thursday, August 24.

Police said the two were “uninjured but shaken” by the incidents, the first of which saw the younger girl targeted at a cycle path near to Maxwellton Street at around 2.25pm.

The second report came from River Cart Walkway at around 6.25pm, officers said.

Police said their suspect is described as being aged between 18 and 23, with light-coloured facial stubble, wearing black trousers and a black hooded top, with his head covered.

Patrols in the area are to be stepped up in the coming days.

Detective Inspector Alex Allardyce, from Paisley CID, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who was in these areas and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in question on other Paisley cycle paths recently, and has any information on other potential incidents.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call police on 101, quoting incident 2189 of August, 24 2023.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, with officers carrying out additional patrols. Anyone with any concerns should approach these officers for assistance.”
