A FIRE that caused “significant damage” to a historic hotel near Busby is being treated as deliberate as cops appeal for information.
We previously reported that emergency services rushed to reports of a derelict building on fire on Busby Road, Glasgow, on Thursday, August 17.
A fire ripped through the Carnbooth House Hotel, a large country house that was built by architect Alexandar Cullen around 1900.
The hotel, which has been lying empty since 2019 was also previously used as a residential school.
In total, 10 fire vehicles were originally sent to the scene.
No one was injured, however, significant damage was caused to the building.
Now, police have confirmed the blaze is being treated as deliberate.
Detective Constable Declan Quinn-Thomas, of Aitkenhead Road CID said: “This was a significant fire and thankfully no-one was injured.
“I would urge anyone with any information to make contact with police.
“Think back, did you see or hear anything suspicious or unusual in the area that evening? Perhaps you have private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries? If so, please get in touch.”
