PICTURES show the horrific damage to a historic hotel near Busby following a huge blaze.
We previously reported that emergency services rushed to reports of a derelict building on fire on Busby Road, Glasgow, last night.
A fire ripped through the Carnbooth House Hotel, a large country house that was built by architect Alexandar Cullen around 1900.
The hotel, which has been lying empty since 2019 was also previously used as a residential school.
Pictures show that the roof of the historic building has collapsed, while windows, some of which were already boarded up, have been damaged by the fire.
In total, ten vehicles were originally sent to the scene, while six appliances and one aerial appliance are still currently extinguishing the fire.
It is understood there are no reported casualties.
Pictures taken by Glasgow Times photographer Colin Mearns show firefighters are still working to extinguish the blaze more than 12 hours later.
The Carmunnock Bypass between Busby Road and Carmunnock Road, which is just outside the hotel, remains closed.
While local residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.03pm on Thursday, August 17, to reports of a derelict building on fire at Busby Road, Carmunnock, Glasgow.
"Operations control mobilised a total of ten appliances at the height of the fire to the scene.
"As of Friday, August 18, at 8.39am, there are still six fire appliances and one aerial appliance in attendance, and firefighters are continuing to extinguish the fire.
"There are no reported casualties."
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Due to a building fire, Carmunnock Bypass remains closed between Busby Road and Carmunnock Road this morning. The public is asked to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
“Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.”
