INVESTIGATIONS are continuing following the deaths of two teenagers over the weekend in a suspected drugs tragedy.
Police were called to Constarry Road in Croy at around 11.20pm on Saturday, August 12 following a report of an 18-year-old make taking unwell.
He was taken to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Just hours later, police were made aware of another 18-year-old male taking unwell at SWG3 on Eastvale Place, Glasgow at around 2.20am on Sunday, August 13.
He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Both men, who were unknown to each other, had attended an event at SWG3 headlined by DJ Ben Hemsley prior to their deaths.
Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, Divisional Commander for Greater Glasgow, said while both deaths are being investigated as drug-related, there is no evidence to suggest there is a connection between the deaths.
He said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the two men who have lost their lives.
"So far in our enquiries, it has been established that both of these men, who were unknown to each other, attended the same event in the Eastvale Place area of Glasgow on Saturday night.
"However, enquiries remain ongoing and although we are investigating both deaths as drug-related at this time, there is no evidence to suggest there is a connection between these deaths.
"We are committed to establishing the full circumstances and are working with the venue, colleagues in the NHS and Public Health Scotland as our enquiries continue to ensure a partnership and public health-led approach."
A spokesperson for SWG3 told the Glasgow Times yesterday: "We are devastated at the news and our deepest sympathies are with the families.
"We will continue to assist the police with their inquiries."
A spokesperson for the Licensing Board said: "It would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing police investigation."
