POLLOK Park in Glasgow has been crowned Scotland’s favourite picnic spot after a nationwide search by Aldi Scotland.

To celebrate Scotland’s natural beauty, Aldi invited its customers to vote for their favourite alfresco dining spot.

Aldi store employees created a shortlist of their favourite three dining spots across the country, which were then shared with the public to select the ultimate picnicking location.

Hundreds of shoppers took to Aldi Scotland’s Facebook and Instagram pages to choose between Pollok Park in Glasgow, The Shore in Edinburgh, and Hazlehead Park in Aberdeen.

After three days of intense debate, the popular Glaswegian beauty spot secured a landslide victory, much to the delight of the Aldi employees in the Govan store and across the city.

Paul Dhaliwal, Assistant Store Manager of the Govan store, said: “Here at the Govan store, we firmly believe that there is no better place to crack open the picnic basket than in the stunning setting of Pollok Park and we’re delighted that the general public agree.

“We’d like to thank our local customers for demonstrating the legendary Glaswegian sense of pride to ensure Pollok Park is named Scotland’s best picnic spot. We hope that everyone gets the chance to enjoy the last of the summer season with our range of Scottish-produced picnic classics.”

The city’s only country park offers large woodlands and manicured gardens for visitors to enjoy a peaceful picnic. The vast park is also home to a family of Highland cows, a play area and mountain bike trail, so there are plenty of activities to pack into a visit.
