A flight was forced to stop at Glasgow Airport on Monday.

The TUI Flight TOM726 from Newcastle to Cancun, Mexico hit inclement weather at Newcastle Airport which impacted the functionality of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The aircraft was forced to land at Glasgow Airport around 2pm to pick up extra fuel for its onward journey.

The flight has continued its journey to Mexico following the incident.

A spokesperson for TUI said: "We would like to apologise to customers for the disruption to flight TOM726 from Newcastle to Cancun.

"Unfortunately, due to weather conditions at Newcastle Airport affecting the performance of the aircraft, the flight was forced to make a stop at Glasgow in order to pick up additional fuel for the onward journey.

"The flight has now left Glasgow and is on its way to Cancun."
