ORGANISERS of a Scottish festival has warned the event will have to be cancelled if they cannot sell hundreds more tickets in the next four days.

The MugStock 2023 event, which is due to be held at Strathallan Castle near Auchterarder in Perthshire over the first weekend in August, put out the warning on Monday.

Organisers said that unless they could make another 600 sales before Friday, July 21 then the festival will have to be cancelled.

“It's a difficult time to put on an independent music festival,” they wrote.

“People tend to book later and suppliers and artists are asking for more money up front. To be sure we can deliver the event everyone is looking forward to, the rate of ticket sales needs to accelerate.

“If we receive around 600 new orders by Friday July 21 the festival will go ahead. If we don't, we will be in a position to offer all a choice between a refund and a rollover.

“We have an amazing event in store, and we need you to help us make it happen... Please book today!

“If we hit our modest target, we can all enjoy the festival we're looking forward to. If you can't afford to book all or even some of your tickets before the 21st, please leave a message on our social media to let us know you're coming, and please encourage all the nice people with whom you'd love to share the weekend to secure their tickets now.

“Thank you so very much from all at Team MugStock.”

The festival is set to be headlined by Scottish rockers Idlewild, with funk DJ Craig Charles, beatboxer Beardyman, and electronic duo Utah Saints also topping the bill.

The 2023 event is due to be the fifth time the festival has been held, and the first in its new Perthshire location.

For the first four years from its inaugural event in 2015, Mugstock was held in Mugdock Park, north of Glasgow and near Milngavie.

The first event at Strathallan Castle was scheduled to take place in 2020 but had to be cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

Tickets for the 2023 event are available on the mugstock.org website at a slightly discounted price. It is set to take place from August 4-7.
