A Glasgow shopping centre has been forced to close its doors this morning due to a 'power cut'.

St Enoch Centre was closed earlier this morning due to what appears to be a power outage.

An eye witness told the Glasgow Times "everything is closed down" and "the whole centre is shut".

Pictures from around 11.20am the centre show it in what appears to be complete darkness with people queuing outside the closed doors.

Customers also reported the power outage on Twitter from around 11am.

It is understood Vue Cinema was forced to cancel some showings due to the issue.

However, showings scheduled for this afternoon are still currently available to book.

One person wrote: "@vuecinemas the 11:00 Indiana Jones showing at your Glasgow St Enoch cinema has been cancelled due to a power cut in the centre, how do we get a refund as there was no staff available to assist? Thanks."

Another tweeted: "@VueHelp I am due to watch a film at St Enoch Centre at 11am but the centre has a power cut - I’ve not heard my showing is cancelled but assuming it can’t be postponed to when there is power - when will this be confirmed and refunds processed?"

St Enoch Centre has been contacted for comment.
