THE Queensferry Crossing was partially closed on Friday after a multi-vehicle crash on the bridge.

Traffic Scotland warned that the collision had led to a partial closure in the southbound direction, with delays of around 40 minutes expected.

The crash on the bridge led to both the hard shoulder and second lane being blocked by a “number of vehicles”, Traffic Scotland said, adding that the first lane was still moving.

Police Scotland confirmed that three vehicles were involved.

A spokesperson said: “Around 9.45 am on Friday, July 14 we received a report of a three vehicle crash on the Queensferry Crossing.”

The iconic bridge over the Firth of Forth makes up part of the M90 motorway and is a common route for commuters from Fife to Edinburgh.

Later in the morning, at around 11.20, Traffic Scotland said that the lanes had all reopened, but warned drivers that delays of 30 minutes were still to be expected.
