LORRAINE Kelly and Nigella Lawson are among the voices welcoming the news that Janey Godley is clear of cancer.

The Scottish comedian shared the news on social media on Tuesday.

“My cancer scan came back clear. My breast screening came back clear,” Godley wrote.

“I will never be cured of ovarian cancer but I will continue to be treated for it thanks Scottish NHS and @Beatson_Charity.

“I am now off to get a glass of champagne.”

As the comic told The National in March, she has been diagnosed with “pernicious and persistent” peritoneal cancer, which occurs in the thin layer of tissue lining the inside of the abdomen.

“Peritoneal cancer is definitely not survivable, so I was given some very bad news. It will come back and it will keep coming back until it kills me.”

But for now, Godley has been given the all-clear.

The news was welcomed by TV host Lorraine. “Great news @JaneyGodley – enjoy that bubbly,” she wrote, adding a love heart emoji.

The SNP deputy leader Keith Brown also welcomed the “great news”, as did Nigella Lawson. “This is the best news!” the famous chef wrote.

Singer Horse McDonald was among the other famous faces welcoming the news.

“Bloody brilliant. I hope the champagne was really well chilled,” Twitter user Jessica Rowley added.
