BORIS Johnson is set to become the newest Daily Mail columnist, according to reports.

It comes after the long-awaited Privileges Committee report found the former prime minister to have repeatedly lied to Parliament about Covid rule-breaking in Downing Street during lockdown.

Today’s front page of the Daily Mail teases that an “erudite new columnist who’ll be “required reading in Westminster and across the world” will be starting on Saturday.

The front features a blacked-out silhouette of the new hire but reports say it is Johnson.

Politico reports that three different sources have confirmed it is Johnson, adding that he is to receive a “very high six-figure sum” to pen a weekly column.

There was much speculation as to whether Johnson would return to his previous publication, the Telegraph.

Johnson is to join a Conservative MP ally, Nadine Dorries.

The former culture secretary announced her new column on Twitter on Thursday and it is understood her articles will appear in the Daily Mail every Tuesday.

Dorries, who already has her own chat show on Talk TV, revealed it in a tweet declaring: “Brace. Brace. Brace.”
