A MAN has died after he was hit by a bus in the early hours of Monday morning in Glasgow.

The 39-year-old was struck by a bus on Argyle Street, near to Gray Street in the area of Finnieston.

Police were called to the crash around 12.05am and the force said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 44-year-old male driver of the Volvo bus was uninjured. No passengers were injured.

The community page No1Seems2Care reported on the incident on their page saying police put "big barriers" around the bus. 

Sergeant Nicholas Twigg from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Govan said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances and the cause of the crash.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information or personal footage that may assist our investigation to contact 101 quoting reference number 0008 of 5 June.”

The road death is the latest in a number across the city of Glasgow.

At the weekend, a 39-year-old man died after he was hit by a red Scania HGV on the M74.
