The National:

LEGENDARY rock and roller Tina Turner passed away on Wednesday, with tributes pouring in from across the world.

The Proud Mary singer was an icon of stage and screen, instantly recognisable for her distinctive voice, sparkling outfits, and huge hairstyles.

Well perhaps not instantly recognisable if you’re Sky News host Kay Burley.

The broadcaster looked to hop on the tribute train on Wednesday evening, turning to Twitter to post her own message to the late singer.

“Tina Turner, original girl power, may she forever rest in peace,” Burley wrote.

The National:

The problem was, she accompanied the message with a picture of someone that very clearly was not Tina Turner. Instead, they appeared to be a tribute act.

As it turns out, the picture is of the Tina Turner Experience.

Burley’s tweet didn’t last long. She swiftly deleted it after people quickly pointed out her extremely obvious error.

“Maybe don’t tweet this if you don’t know what Tina Turner actually looks like,” journalist Hannah Rodger wrote.

The Sky host seems to have taken her advice, opting instead to share other people’s tributes to the late great singer.

Fortunately for Burley, those other posts (like the above) seem to have been made by people who could manage to pick the iconic singer out of a line-up.
