FIRST Minister Humza Yousaf was received by King Charles during an audience at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday. 

He was in London to visit the Lord Mayor Nucholas Lyons, whose position is entirely separate from the directly elected Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

The Lord Mayor's main role is to represent, support and promote the businesses and residents in London.

According to the First Minister's official Twitter account, "They discussed key areas of partnership like promoting the strength of our financial and professional services sector and how the City of London can work with the Scottish Government to attract further capital investment to Scotland". 

Yousaf also met with with the Spanish ambassador to the United Kingdom, José Pascual Marco.

Yousaf thanked Pascual Marco for his hospitality, then added: "Scotland and Spain already have many areas of collaboration - green economy, trade & investment, education - I am committed to strengthening.

"Scotland is a proud European nation, we are determined to deepen our friendship with Europe."
