A COURT has fined a man whose dog bit a police officer on the testicles.

The Caucasian Shepherd attacked the officer “without prompt or warning”, according to a submission to Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The bite on the testicles meant the policeman, Andy Brand, had to go to hospital, where he was given a tetanus injection and antibiotics.

The incident happened in Glasgow city centre on June 11, 2022.

Ridwan Islam, the owner of the dog, was fined £270. He was also ordered to keep it muzzled and on a lead no longer than six feet.

Islam pled guilty to being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control, according to STV

Caucasian Shepherd’s are guardian dogs which have been “used for centuries to protect properties from trespassers [and] guard livestock from large and small predators”, according to the American Kennel Club.

Sheriff Bernard Ablett said the dog would not be put down after an emotional plea from Islam, who also apologised to the officer involved.
