JEREMY Vine has hailed part of our campaign to strip Prince Andrew of his titles as the “best thing you’ll see today”.

The legendary broadcaster, who presents BBC Radio 2’s lunchtime programme and a daily current affairs programme on Channel 5, reposted The National’s video of Inverness residents giving their views on the disgraced royal.

We are calling for Prince Andrew – who has already been stripped of other royal honorifics – to lose his title as the Earl of Inverness.

Sharing our video, including a man calling Andrew a “dirty old bastard – with a serious attitude problem”, Vine said: “This vox pop by [The National] asking voters why Prince Andrew should no longer be Earl of Inverness is the best thing you'll see today.”

His endorsement comes as we near 2500 signatures on our petition, launched just under a week ago, to lose his title with the Scottish city, which locals have said brings Inverness into “disrepute”.

Andrew reportedly paid £12 million to avoid going to court over allegations he sexually assaulted a minor.

He maintains his innocence but he continues to be dogged over questions about his links to the late billionaire paedophile Jeffery Epstein.

The ensuing row saw him lose the right to be addressed as “His Royal Highness” as well as an honorary position as an air commodore of RAF Lossiemouth, the air force’s most northernly base.

It comes in the run up to the King’s coronation, scheduled to take place on May 6.
