ISLANDERS are facing further ferry disruption on Wednesday with several sailings cancelled for the second day running.

Problems with CalMac’s largest vessel MV Loch Seaforth started on Tuesday.

It is understood that the issue is related to the engine control system. Sailings leaving from Stornoway at 7am and 2pm have been cancelled as well as the 10.30am service departing from Ullapool.

CalMac said that engineers were onboard the vessel on Wednesday morning working to resolve the issue.

An update on the 5.30pm sailing from Ullapool will be provided at 2pm on Wednesday.

Passengers have been encouraged to use the Uig to Tarbert route due to the cancellations, with additional sailings being put in place to face the backlog.

On Tuesday, commuters faced a full day of disruption due to the same issues, which resulted in all services being cancelled.
