Thousands of people are due to take part in Orange and Loyalist parades in Glasgow in the coming months.

Almost 30 processions are planned between now and the first weekend in July.

The marches range from just a few dozen people in local events to thousands parading through the city centre, with many more supporters following alongside.

The list includes church parades on a Sunday and marches to Glasgow Green on a Saturday and some smaller processions on a Friday.

The biggest, so far, is in July when around 4000 people are expected to take part in a parade from George Square through the city centre to Glasgow Green.

The County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow is the organiser on Saturday, July 1, going through the city centre, along St Vincent Street, up Hope Street before turning back along West George Street, George Street, High Street and Saltmarket to go into the Green.

The National:

The previous Sunday, June 25, 900 people are expected in a parade from Blythswood Square to Cathedral Square after four parades merge from the north, south, east and west.

Other large parades planned include later this month when 400 are expected to take part in a Ladies Orange Association of Scotland parade from Kenney Street, Townhead through the city centre via George Square to Castle Street.

On Saturday, May 6, the Loyal Orange Institute of Scotland Govan District 42 will parade from Brand Street, Kinning Park via Broomloan Road and Govan Road and back with 250 participants.

On Sunday, June 4, parades from across the city, starting in Dennistoun, Cowcaddens, Tradeston and Yorkhill will merge in the city centre to head to Cathedral Square with a total of 600 expected.

On Sunday, June 11, Denniston Rangers Flute Band has a planned paraded through Dennistoun and Haghill via Duke Street and Alexandra Parade with 600 people.

On the same day, the County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow will parade from Springburn Parish Church to Keppochhill Road with 250 people.

The National:

Another 400 are planned to take part in a County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow parade from Kennedy Street, Townhead via George Square to Glasgow Green on Saturday, June 17.

The previous Saturday, June 10, around 180 people from Shettleston Guiding Star of Freedom LOL 180 will march from Quarryknowe Street along Shettleston Road and Tollcross Road and back.

And 150 will take part in a McKinlay Memorial LOL 354 parade, a circular route from Lorne Street Govan, through Ibrox and Kinning Park.

Other smaller parades are planned in communities across the city, with fewer than 100 in each.

They include Saturday, April 15 when 60 will parade in Springburn with the Barmulloch True Blues LOL No.98.

Later in the month on Saturday, April 29, Laurieston and Southside Mitchelburne Club of the Apprentice Boys of Derry will walk from Oxford Street in Gorbals through the southside to Shawbridge Street, Pollokshaws.

Others are taking place in Bridgeton, Govan, Springburn and Possilpark throughout April May and June.

Glasgow City Council has been given notification of the parades.
