EMERGENCY services have been called to the scene of a fire at a former nightclub in Kirkcaldy.

Four fire crews were dispatched to the scene in the now-closed Kitty’s nightclub around 6.20am on Wednesday.

Police confirmed that road closures have been put in place on Hunter Street and Wemyssfield.

The nightclub first opened in 2019 and the building is currently up for sale as a development opportunity.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police are currently at the scene of a building fire on Hunter Street, Kirkcaldy.

“Please be aware that local road closures have been put in place on Hunter Street and Wemyssfield.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.20am on Wednesday March 22 to reports of a fire within a derelict building on Hunter Street, Kirkcaldy.

“Operations Control initially mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters found the building well alight.

“Five further appliances and a height appliance was mobilised and firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

One appliance remains on the scene as crews ensure that the area is made safe. No casualties were reported.”
