PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have been asked to “vacate” their UK home weeks after the release of the damning book Spare, the couple have confirmed.

The couple’s spokesperson said a “request” had been made for the pair to give up Frogmore Cottage to Windsor Castle.

Reports have claimed that the move was sanctioned by King Charles and it will remove any remaining foothold Harry and Meghan have in the UK.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”

In his autobiography released earlier this month, Harry claimed his brother physically assaulted him.

During a series of interviews last year, Markle said that “just by existing”, she and her husband were “upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy” before they stepped down as working royals.

Frogmore, a Garde-II listed property owned by the Crown Estate, was a gift from Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen.

In 2019, royal accounts showed that the couple had paid £2.4 million to cover the refurbishment of the house – a property they have only used a handful of times since relocating to the US.

The Sun first reported that the King was “evicting” the couple from Frogmore Cottage and claimed that it had been offered to Prince Andrew.

In a poll commissioned by The National earlier this year, we revealed that 72% of Scots want Andrew stripped of his Scottish title.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
