The National:

LORNA Slater has been renamed “slay-ter” after she responded to Jordan Peterson’s attack on her.

It comes after Peterson, a controversial conservative commentator known for his views on masculinity, hit out at the Green minister over a column she penned for The National.

“So many wonderful women have told me that they look in horror at the abuse and the way that women in the public eye are treated and have concluded that it’s not for them,” Slater had written.

A tweet directing people to the piece, sent out by this paper, caught Peterson’s eye.

He suggested that the Green’s column was instead an expression of toxic femininity.

“Precisely what someone toxically feminine would claim and retweet @lornaslater,” he wrote – three days after the original post.

Now, Slater has responded by taking on Peterson’s attack as a badge of pride.

“New bio unlocked,” she wrote, alongside an emoji of a trophy.

And sure enough, the minister has updated her Twitter bio to include the phrase “toxically feminine”.

She has also pinned the tweet to the top of her profile.

Councillor Kayleigh O'Neill, Slater’s Green colleague, quipped: “Slay-ter.”
