NOMINATIONS have now opened in the SNP leadership race with the party's national secretary taking to Twitter/X on Monday night to confirm the details.
Humza Yousaf confirmed he would remain in post until his successor, with John Swinney saying he was giving "active consideration" to succeeding the First Minister.

SNP leadership election
The SNP held a leadership election after Nicola Sturgeon's resignation, with Yousaf, Kate Forbes and Ash Regan competing for the role of first minister.

Prior to this, Sturgeon had been elected unopposed in 2014 and something similar could happen this time around depending on who runs.
No-one has as yet come forward publicly to announce their candidacy, although Swinney told Sky News he was considering the calls from a number of MSPs to go for the role while Fergus Ewing has said Forbes would be the best candidate to take on the job.
In a statement following Yousaf's resignation, Forbes did not address whether or not she would enter the race.
SNP national secretary Lorna Finn confirmed that nominations would close at noon on Monday, May 6.
According to the SNP constitution, a candidate for leader must have the nominations of at least 100 members, drawn from at least 20 branches.
The close of nominations will be 77 days after nominations opened, the document states.
