Superhero fans can look forward to seeing Glasgow on the big screen this year as a new trailer for a DC Comics blockbuster gives a glimpse of local filming locations.

The Flash movie crew took over the city centre in the summer of 2021 with a number of action-packed scenes wowing onlooking crowds.

The National:

The film will see controversial actor Ezra Miller take the lead role alongside Ben Affleck with a scheduled release date of Friday, June 16.

In August last year, Miller announced that they were beginning treatment to help with a series of “complex mental health issues”.

They had previously been charged by US police over an alleged burglary in the state of Vermont, as well as being accused of grooming a young girl.

Prior to that, Miller had been arrested twice in Hawaii on charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct at a karaoke bar.

Warner Bros are going ahead with The Flash despite the situation, with DC franchise boss David Zaslav saying he was “very excited” for the movie to be released.

A new trailer released overnight has shown that we can expect to see to the city itself taking a starring role in the feature with multiple shots instantly recognisable as Glasgow.

One dramatic clip shows Batman racing through George Square on a motorbike in a scene which we spotted filming in July, 2021.

The National:

Another snippet follows the chase through city centre streets as an American-style police car pirouettes through the air in slow motion.

The National:

It comes after Batgirl, which was filmed in and around the city in early 2022, was scrapped due to a reported poor reception at test screenings.

This month Brendan Fraser, who starred as the film's villain Firefly, spoke out about the cancellation and claimed that Glasgow was "perfectly cast" as Gotham.
