THE grassroots Yes movement engine is set to reach its fundraising target in a major step towards campaign efforts.

With three days to go, the Believe in Scotland Crowdfunder has hit 92% of its ambitious £100,000 target.

The fundraiser launched November 10, with Business for Scotland donors promising to match donations from the public pound for pound.

Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp said: “We support local groups. The grassroots independence campaign is vital in achieving Scottish independence. That’s why Business for Scotland launched the Believe in Scotland campaign – to support the grassroots.

“All public donations to our Crowdfunder go directly towards supporting grassroots independence campaigning. All administrative costs like rent, distribution, wages, and expenses are already met by Business for Scotland donors.”

The group has pledged to campaign, regardless of the route to independence, and say “we talk to the undecided and lay the groundwork for a Yes victory”.

10 more Yes groups are in the process of joining the already 127 local Yes groups working under the umbrella of Believe in Scotland. The organisation is not connected to any political party and support groups by providing them with campaign messaging, campaign materials, advice and funding-raising opportunities.

MacIntyre-Kemp told The National how the Crowdfunder will help “professionalise the grassroots Yes campaign” in the coming year.

He said: “Early next year we will provide every Local Yes Group with access to a national network of databases to manage memberships, volunteers and canvassing information, as well as access to a mobile canvassing app.

“Our track record is well established already. We have delivered through our affiliated Yes Groups and partners more than 2.6m items of campaign material in less than two years. No other campaign organisation comes close to our size, professionalism, or reach.”

Business for Scotland works to show people that Scotland’s economy will thrive as an independent nation and Believe in Scotland works to support the grassroots movement.
