THE Tories have been infiltrated by neo-Marxist ideology, with the left in the driving seat of the governing party.
This is the claim of GB News presenter Calvin Robinson, host of the improbably titled Common Sense Crusade programme on the channel.
Showing his common-sense credentials, he has completely given leave of all other of his senses and concluded that a cabal of communists has taken hold of the levers of power at the heart of the Conservative Party, ushering in a new Marxist era.
Father Robinson (he is a deacon in the Free Church of England – the CoE wouldn’t have him) fumed as arch-Brexiteer and self-avowed libertarian in the American mould Steve Baker revealed he’d changed his position on the practice of taking a knee.
Why is there a Black Conservatives event?
— Fr Calvin Robinson (@calvinrobinson) October 3, 2022
I’m not a black conservative. I’m a conservative. Skin-colour is irrelevant.
Conservatives do not subscribe to Leftist ideologies, identity politics, CRT.
These are not conservatives. They’re well-meaning liberals adopting neo-Marxism. https://t.co/YeU6VolXjI
Baker, who founded a free-market think tank, has finally bowed to the ideology of the left, according to Robinson.

Robinson, who is mixed-race, has argued in the past the Black Lives Matter movement has made race relations in Britain worse and that the movement was “anti-British” and “anti-family”.
In response to Baker’s intervention, Robinson said: “Why is there a Black Conservatives event? I’m not a black conservative. I’m a conservative. Skin-colour is irrelevant.
“Conservatives do not subscribe to Leftist ideologies, identity politics, [critical race theory]. These are not conservatives. They’re well-meaning liberals adopting neo-Marxism.
“The rot in the Conservative Party is deep. Tory Reform Group, LGBTQ+ Conservatives, Women 2 Win, Conservative Women’s Organisation, 50:50 Parliament, CARFE, and now 2022 Group.
“The Party has been captured by liberals obsessed with identity politics. Infiltrated by the Left.”
The Jouker has approached the People’s Democratic Conservative Party (Trussist tendency) for comment.
We also might gently encourage Robinson to take a look at the Tory taxation and public spending policies, which are expected to usher in a new era of austerity. All power to the shires?
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
