INVERCLYDE MP Ronnie Cowan has lambasted 'Westminster incompetence' following the UK Government's mini budget.
The SNP politician launched an attack after new chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng outlined a series of measures which have proved highly controversial.
Mr Cowan said: "The consequences of this statement will be growth in inequality, and growth in the gap between the richest and the poorest.
"The UK Government must urgently come back with an emergency budget to fix the mess it has created.
"Instead of boosting bankers' bonuses, it must target resources at low and middle income families and small businesses, including by cutting energy bills, introducing a real living wage, reversing Tory cuts to universal credit and lifting the benefits cap."
