Edinburgh based singer songwriters, Kevin Gore and Bobby Nicholson, will be performing their show Gone Edinburgh in the Czech capital late September.

They have hosted the show for several years as part of the Edinburgh Fringe, with performances taking place nightly in the basement of the Royal Oak pub in the capital’s Infirmary Street and regularly attracting sold-out attendances.

Their show is a musical production featuring songs based on social justice, politics, and history, both ancient and modern, relating to Scotland with a particular emphasis on the nation’s quest for independence.

The pair performed in Prague in 2019 in a sold-out run.

It was originally a Czech tourist attending the Edinburgh show at the 2019 Fringe who suggested that the duo should apply to perform at the Prague festival and, after sending off samples of their work to the organiser, they were delighted to receive an invite to the event that year and this.

Gore’s anthemic Independence Day and the dark humour of Nicholson’s post-referendum rant aimed at the ‘Spineless 55’ in Dear Scotland, it Wisnae Me have been inspired by campaigning for independence.

“We’re really excited about taking the show to Prague once again” said Gore, who performs regularly at independence rallies held both in Scotland and abroad. He added: "The duo see this as an opportunity to promote their own unique material, but also their passion for Scottish independence to a wider audience.

“We’re hoping to once again establish a good rapport with the Czech people as we are aware that they had their own struggle for independence at the time of the velvet revolution back in 1989 so I’m sure we will be meeting a few kindred spirits when we’re there.

“In addition, there’s a reasonably sized expat population in Prague and, as it’s an English-speaking festival, we’re expecting a few British (hopefully Scottish) nationals to come along and see us.”

Gore and Nicholson fly out to Prague later this month and will be performing Gone Edinburgh on six successive nights in the city’s Café Club Misenska. Tickets can be found HERE.
