A FIRE broke out at a primary school in Glasgow on Tuesday night. 

Emergency services rushed to Darnley Primary School, on Glen Moriston Road, in the south of the city around 8.40pm.

Pictures show fire engines at the scene, while plumes of smoke and flames are visible on the top of the building.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two appliances attended the blaze, which was extinguished around 10pm.

No casualties were reported and the fire was contained.

According to the school's website, teachers will return to work on August 15, while pupils are expected back in the classroom on Augut 17.

Glasgow City Council has been contacted for comment.
