PEAT & Diesel drummer Uilleam Macleod is hitting the road this weekend taking on a 13.4 mile walk to raise funds for The Leanne Fund.

Walking from Tolsta to Stornoway, he has chosen to fundraise for The Leanne Fund which was set up by the family of his late friend Leanne Mitchell to give real and practical help to those affected by cystic fibrosis.

The Leanne Fund is the foremost cystic fibrosis charity working with individuals and families across the Highlands, Islands, Grampian and Tayside regions of Scotland.

The charity provides vital social, practical, emotional and financial assistance, supporting the whole family.

Macleod said: “The Leanne Fund does so much for kids and families who are affected and living with cystic fibrosis.

“I knew Leanne Mitchell well from her time at the Lewis Pipe Band and used to get picked up most weeks for band practice.

“Leanne was always smiling, always the life and soul of the band hall and always a great friend.”

Chrisetta Mitchell, development manager of The Leanne Fund said: “We’re so touched that Uilleam is taking on this challenge in memory of Leanne.

“We realise how busy he is with the overwhelming success of the band and are grateful that he has sacrificed his only free weekend to do this walk for the fund.”

Uilly is hoping to leave

Tolsta at 9am on Saturday arriving in Stornoway around 2pm.
