THE Scottish Sovereignty Research Group (SSRG) is set to hold its "ambitious" conference on all the major issues facing Scotland later this month.

The group is looking to expand on its work in bringing constitutional and academic experts from around the world to discuss the policies and strategies that Scotland must consider in becoming an independent state.

With preparations for indyref2 and the debate on Scottish independence ramping up, the event will look to shed light on all the major questions Scots will have on the country’s future.

With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know.

When is the conference?

The conference will take place on July 29, 30 and 31.

Where is the conference?

The conference will be held in the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline.

Who will be speaking at the conference?

The conference will feature experts from Scotland and beyond, including professor Alf Baird, professor Richard Murphy, Sara Salyers, professor Paul McCartney, Billy Kay and Dr Tim Rideout with more yet to be announced.

What issues will be discussed?

The event will look to cover a range of topics over the weekend but some of those will include:

• Six routes Scotland can take to achieve self-determination

• Scotland’s economy post-independence, currency, taxation and more

• Language, culture and Identity

• Land ownership and natural resources

• Scotland’s defence requirements and policies

• Media ownership and regulation

• International recognition and relations, EU, EFTA and more

• Strategic national infrastructure & trade

• Scotland’s constitution – the historic constitution, based on the Claim of Right, and the development of a modern written constitution

How do I get to the conference centre?

Carnegie Conference Centre is located just off the M90 motorway, 25 minutes from Edinburgh.

Free car and bike parking is available at the venue. By train, it is a 14-minute walk (0.6 miles) from the Queen Margaret railway station, while Dunfermline Town train station is a 5-minute taxi journey. There is a regular bus service (19A) from Dunfermline bus station (14 minutes/2.2 miles).

Long distance buses X26 and X24 run from Glasgow and St Andrews respectively and the best bus stop is right at Fife College. The conference centre is part of Fife College.

The conference centre is located at the back of the HIE hotel, just across the road from the ASDA superstore.

What are the accommodation arrangements?

The SSRG has said it is aware people are experiencing difficulty in finding overnight accommodation at a reasonable price. In response to this, is has arranged to set up a campsite (with facilities) about 10 miles from the Carnegie Conference Centre. This will provide 3-day delegates with the possibility of affordable accommodation.

Camping tickets cost £30 per pitch for a stay of up to 3 nights (Arrive Thursday July 28, depart July Sunday 31) and can be purchased along with 3-day conference tickets.

25 pitches are available and a camping option can be included while purchasing a 3-day ticket for the event. Further details (e.g location & facilities etc) will be provided once a booking is confirmed.
