SKY has shared a new video of Sir Kenneth Branagh playing Boris Johnson.

The Academy Award winning star is set to play the Prime Minister in a drama about his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

This England is due to premiere later this year and will also follow Johnson’s handling of Brexit and the controversies within his personal and political life.

The ominous teaser opens with a voiceover by Sir Kenneth as the Prime Minister saying: “2020 will be a year of prosperity.”

It closes with an image of the Number 10 door shutting as the radio announces: “The United Kingdom has overtaken Italy to report the highest official death toll.”

The show is based on first-hand testimonies of people who worked in Downing Street, the Department of Health, the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) and from hospitals and care homes across the country.

The new images also show Ophelia Lovibond, who is known for her roles in BBC sitcom W1A and Marvel hit Guardians of the Galaxy, portraying the Johnson’s wife Carrie Symonds.

Broadchurch star Andrew Buchan can be seen portraying former health secretary Matt Hancock.

The series will be directed and co-written by Michael Winterbottom whilst The Sunday Times’ political editor Tim Shipman will act as a consultant.
