YES group All Under One Banner (AUOB) is looking for volunteers to help steward a march for Scottish independence in Glasgow on May 14.

AUOB is hosting two Zoom meetings for people interested in helping out at the event.

The first is on Thursday May 5 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and the second is a week later on Thursday May 12 at the same time.

Giving some details on the meetings, the AUOB tweeted: “Chief Steward will chair the meeting and our experienced team will answer any questions and provide all key information, so everyone is aware and prepared for what's involved in executing the straightforward, enjoyable role of being a steward on the day."

The group is also inviting independence supporters to join them on the steps of the Buchanan Galleries on Saturday May 7 between 1pm and 3pm to hand out leaflets and posters for the event.

The May 14 event will set off from Kelvingrove Park at 12pm and make its way through the centre of Glasgow, finishing in George Square. Organisers hope to promote the defence of the NHS in tandem with Scottish independence.

Writing on Twitter, the group said: “Defending our NHS is a clear and present reason to take to the streets of Glasgow on 14 May. Defending our NHS is a call for boots on the ground to declare our opposition to the rotten, unequal Union, and express our powerful demand for independence now.”

AUOB has also publicly thanked the Scottish Independence Foundation for funding the march.

It wrote on Twitter: "We wish to thank the Scottish Independence Foundation for funding the March for independence - defend our NHS demonstration at Glasgow on 14 May - now fully funded by SIF."
