FORMER BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has been accused of sexual misconduct by seven women, according to a new documentary.

The BBC and The Guardian worked on a joint investigation into the renowned DJ, detailing the allegations. BBC Three will air the programme Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power tonight at 9pm.

The seven women, who are all black, were teenagers or in their early 20s when they allege the incidents occurred. Three accuse Westwood of opportunistic and predatory behaviour, the four others allege being groped by the DJ at events.

The alleged incidents span from 1992 to 2017. The group came forward after anonymous accusations about Westwood spread on social media.

According to the newspaper, the women accusing Westwood are not known to each other and had not made police reports about the DJ.

One of the women told The Guardian: “Someone taking advantage of my naivety and lack of confidence isn’t something that I should have to carry with shame.”

Westwood denies all allegations, while a spokesperson said they were completely false.

The 64-year old DJ is well known in the UK as the presenter of MTV’s Pimp My Ride, and a long-time BBC Radio 1 presenter specialising in rap and hip-hop. He moved to 1Xtra in 2013 before going to Capital Radio.
