Colourboxx has cancelled its upcoming one-day summer festival in June.

Organisers announced the cancellation of the event, which was due to take place in Bellahouston Park on June 25, in a statement on Tuesday.

Years & Years, fronted by Olly Alexander, was set to headline the day-long festival alongside Becky Hill, Joesef, Berry Galazka, Bimini, HYYTS and the Sugababes as special guests.

The statement reads: "Thank you so much for all the love and support you have shown Colourboxx so far.

"We really hoped we would be coming to you with better news but, here’s hoping we will meet again to celebrate all things love, joy and unity with you.

"Love, Colourboxx x."

Colourboxx cancels Glasgow festival due to be held in June

The event was imagined as "a vibrant wonderland where inclusivity and freedom of expression reign supreme", featuring drag acts across the UK and some of the country's most popular musicians.

Fans of the event have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts following the news.

One user wrote: "Colourboxx has been cancelled, with no reason given, wtf??

"Website and everything is gone."

A second fan added: "Excited for the Netflix investigation into Colourboxx."

While a third added: "Absolutely gutted ColourBoxx Festival has been cancelled!! Hoping @Sugababes are doing Pride festivals this year! Please @keisha_buchanan @siobhandonaghy @Mutyabuena21"

Tickets initially went on sale on Friday November 5, 2021 on the Colourboxx website - which appears to be no longer live.

Customers have been contacting ticket sales websites like Ticketmaster to enquire about refunds.

The official customer service account for Ticketmaster responded to one user, writing: "Given the circumstances, our refund process is taking slightly longer than usual. You don’t need to do anything; please rest assured we are working through these as quickly as possible and will issue a refund for your tickets to the method of payment you used to buy your tickets."
