AS Scotland marks two years since the first coronavirus lockdown, The National will be taking a deep dive into how the pandemic has affected our lives.

In a seven-part series of articles running every day next week from Sunday, Ben Wray will explore the impact the crisis has had on the NHS, culture, society and much more.

Readers will be able to view helpful graphs and charts illustrating how the country has changed plus there will be a chance to ask Ben questions and hear his analysis via a livestream.

Callum Baird, editor of The National, said: "Working in the newspaper industry, we've seen huge changes in how we operate because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"That's been a pattern across Scottish society – in our lives, our jobs and our hobbies.

"With it being such an important subject, we're really glad to be launching this series from Ben that will explore how the pandemic has changed us.

"We'll have graphics accompanying the pieces so that our readers are getting the full package.

The National:

"I'd love to see this start some discussions on our letters pages too, exchanging stories brought to mind by this series as it releases."

The series will begin by looking at how the spread of the deadly virus hit every area of the health service covering major problems with waiting times and staff vacancies.

Ben then moves on to explore the social care staffing crisis which emerged as a result of the outbreak and how the pandemic impacted politics and opinions around whether Scotland should be independent.

The many challenges faced by Scotland's councils is also covered, as well as what situation the crisis has created for the economy and education
