GEORDIE musician Sam Fender has revealed he is a huge Limmy fan in a post-award-show interview with NME.

After winning two awards at the NME ceremony this week – following his gong for best alternative act at the Brits a few weeks back – the performer spoke highly of the Glaswegian comedian.

Fender and his friends appeared lively after the ceremony, and they began singing Limmy’s techno Star Wars remix in front of the cameras.

“That one was a shout-out to Limmy, the Scottish Glaswegian comedian who has f****** powered our lives,” he told journalists.

One of Fender’s associates then described Limmy as “the best comedian to ever live”, before impersonating his psychic character Raymond Day’s “she’s doonstairs” line.

Limmy appeared to be pleased with the praise from the young rocker, and reposted the clip on his social media.

At the NME Awards this week Fender opened the show with an impassioned performance, then claimed the awards for best album by a UK artist and best album in the world for his critically acclaimed second effort Seventeen Going Under.

When he took to the stage to collect his prize, he swore at the crowd and joked: “We didn’t even know we were nominated until two seconds ago.”
