The most romantic day of the year is here! If you’re still having a think over ideas to mark the occasion with a special someone, not to fret - we’ve pulled together a round-up of romantic and offbeat date ideas around Scotland that are sure to impress.

1. Explore the Black Linn Falls at the Hermitage

Take a trip to the Black Linn Falls. Nestled in the leafy growth of The Hermitage, nestled amongst giant Douglas Firs (some of the tallest trees in the UK), enjoy a romantic walk and take in the stunning scenery.

If you really want to impress your date, the best place to view the cascading falls is at the viewing spot: ‘Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors’. The Georgian building erected in 1757 hosts a painting of Romantic poet Ossain, and a hall of mirrors which gives the illusion of being surrounded by water at all angles.

3. Stargaze at the Galloway Forest Park

Perhaps the most famous stargazing spot in Scotland - and for good reason! - the Galloway Forest Park contains plenty of Dark Sky Discovery Points. These are places that are removed from local light pollution, provide stunning views of the skyline, and have good public access - including for wheelchair users.

The nearby Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre overlooks the darkest part of the Forest Park - the perfect spot for some truly spectacular gazing.

5. Not your ordinary cinematic experience

So the idea of a film might on the surface sound cliche - but this is a cinematic experience with a twist. At Everyman cinema in Glasgow you can arrive early to woo your date over cocktails - and then if you really want to pull out the big guns, order food and drinks to be delivered straight to your seat at the cinema.
