SCOTLAND has recorded 30 further deaths of coronavirus patients in just 24 hours.

The new brings the total number of lives lost under this measure - of people who tested positive for Covid-19 within 28 days - to 10,195.

The latest government data also shows that 6768 new cases of the disease have been identified in the last 24 hours.

This figure now includes lateral flow devices as well as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests. A total of 4106 people tested positive through only a lateral flow.

Across Scotland yesterday, the data says that there were 1458 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19.

There were also at least 16 people in intensive care. However, one health board did not report its data in time for the most recent update.

In terms of the vaccination effort, 4,405,059 people have received the first jag, while a total of 4,102,038 have received their second.

There have been 3,245,885 third doses or boosters administered in Scotland.
