ANOTHER 16 people have died in Scotland after contracting Covid-19, new daily figures show.

A further 10,392 cases have also been recorded, with a positivity rate of 27.7%.

However, Public Health Scotland stated: “There continues to be large volumes of tests being processed by labs; this has impacted turnaround times resulting in delays between specimen’s beings taken and results being received and reported. PHS are continuing to monitor the situation.”

The deaths, among patients who first tested positive in the previous 28 days, bring the total under that measure to 9950.

Some 1479 people were in hospital on Monday with recently confirmed Covid, an increase of 47 in 24 hours.

Of those patients, 54 were in intensive care, no change in 24 hours.

A total of 4,393,689 people have received their first dose of a vaccination, 4,051,635 have received their second dose, and 3,130,502 have received a third dose or booster.
