ANOTHER three people have died in Scotland after testing positive for Covid-19, new daily data reveals.

A further 7561 new cases were also recorded in the daily figures released on January 9. The new cases represent 23.2% of the 38,423 new tests that reported results.

The three deaths - of people who died within 28 days of testing positive - bring the total toll under the daily measure to 9934.

Public Health Scotland is continuing to monitor delays in tests being received and results being reported which it indicates has been caused by a large volume of tests being processed by labs.

There were 1382 people in hospital on Saturday with recently confirmed Covid-19, an increase of 20 in 24 hours.

Of these people, 55 were in intensive care, up by seven.

A total of 4,391,558 people have received their first dose of a Covid vaccination and 4,045,667 have received their second dose.

Some 3,101,096 have now received a third dose or booster.
